“I knew nothing about this machine [gesturing at a camera]. All my photos were really mistakes but people found it interesting.” Looking at the stunning work of fashion photographer Wing Shya, it’s hard to imagine him uttering these words. But once you sit down with him it’s really no surprise. The long-haired photographer is charmingly nonchalant.

Having worked with the likes of French Vogue, iD (UK) and New York Times Magazine, he’s now turning his attention to the art world. After tracking down famed Manga artist Tatsu Tanaka in Tokyo, he was inspired to create a series of photographs that are “Prevation: A Manga Story.”

“Prevation: A Manga Story” runs from 9 September to 25 October 2008 at Ooi Botos Gallery, 5 Gresson Street, Wanchai.
